Cranial Osteopathy
Cranial osteopathy is a very gentle form of osteopathy. A Cranial Osteopath will use delicate and non- invasive pressure that encourages the release of tensions and stresses in the head and throughout the body. This is done by applying light pressure to specific areas.
Cranial Osteopathy is highly effective in treating a wide variety of conditions in people of all ages and is very beneficial in the treatment of babies and children due to the calm and gentle techniques used.
The fundamental principle of cranial osteopathy is to allow the body to make its own changes from within, what the body wants to do, and not for the practitioner to impose a prescription of treatment from outside. For this, the osteopath has to develop a highly acute sense of palpation, in order to ‘read’ what the body requires and to work with the body, without imposing from outside. This principle applies throughout the body, not just to the head.
During cranial treatment the osteopath might appear to be very still and the hands might appear to hardly move. Some patients can feel the treatment working inside their body while others are unaware and may even fall asleep. Cranial osteopathy is very relaxing and works deeply on your problems. The approach can detect problems that have been held deep inside (the body) for several years.
