Pilate’s is a complete exercise method dedicated to improving physical and mental health and wellbeing. Pilate’s focuses on building your body’s core strength and improving you posture through a series of low repetition, low impact stretching, and conditioning exercises. You will increase your core strength (back, abdominals and pelvic floor), improve your flexibility and agility and at the same time tone your stomach and thigh muscles.
The Aim of Pilates
Pilates aims to promote ‘good posture’ and help realign the body. By correctly aligning the body & bring all the joints into their natural, neutral position, joints will remain healthy & stress free.
Pilate’s is a profoundly relaxing method of exercise and its slow, rhythmic movements relieve stress and leave most people feeling simultaneously calm and energized. This mental relaxation, in turn, helps your muscles become less tense.
In the long term, the effect of Pilates is to give your muscles a lengthened, toned shape rather than bulk.
Who is it for
Pilates has something to offer people of all ages and levels of ability and fitness, from beginners to elite athletes.
Before starting any exercise class, it is always advisable to seek advice from your GP or a health professional if you have any health concerns, such as a health condition or an injury. Any of the practitioners at Maypole Health will be happy to advise if Pilates would suit the individual and the benefits it can bring.
